Coolpad is hosting a launch event for a selfie smartphone in India on August 10. It could launch the Coolpad Sky 3 smartphone with 8-megapixel front camera.
Coolpad has sent out media invites for a launch event in New Delhi on August 10, where it will be launching a new selfie-centric smartphone. The invite is quite clear about the company’s plans and invites the media to witness a ‘mega selfie’. Though Coolpad is keeping its cards close to its chest, reports claim it could be launching the Sky 3 smartphone that was recently launched in international markets.
The smartphone, as the name suggests, is the successor to the Coolpad Sky launched last year. The highlight of the Coolpad Sky 3 is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture and 83 degree wide-angle lens. At the back, there is another 8-megapixel snapper with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. Both cameras come with features like HDR, GIF support and a professional shooting mode.
Coolpad Sky 3 specifications
The smartphone features a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass, and is powered by a 1GHz MediaTek MT67355P 64-bit quad-core chipset paired with Mali T720 GPU. Also on offer is 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The Sky 3 also features a 2,500mAh battery and connectivity options like 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, A-GPS, and Bluetooth 4.0. On the software front, the device runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 out-of-the-box.
Coolpad had launched the Sky 3 with a price tag of 3,999,000 VND, which is approximately Rs 12,000. We have recently seen a bevy of devices launched with a major focus on selfies. These include the likes of the Asus Zenfone Selfie (ZD551KL), OPPO F1s, and InFocus M535+ to name a few.
