Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime leaked featuring fingerprint scanner, improved RAM, storage

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is expected to be the successor to the Galaxy J7 launched last year. Leaks suggest it could come with improvements like bigger RAM, more storage and fingerprint scanner as well.

Samsung’s known to bring out new and improved versions of existing smartphones and one of them to join the list is the Galaxy J7. This would be the third improved version of the Galaxy J7 as the first one was launched in July 2015 in India, while the 2016 version was launched in May. The J7 (2015) was launched at a price of Rs 14,999 and the J7 (2016) at a price of Rs 15,990. It is reported that the new and improved version of the Galaxy J7 will be launched as Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, which doesn’t seem as a surprise considering it fits the Galaxy series.

New reports suggest that a few hardware improvements are expected to come with the Galaxy J7 Prime. To begin with, the Galaxy J7 Prime is expected to feature 3GB of RAM, which is a big improvement from the existing 1.5GB RAM on the Galaxy J7 and 2GB RAM on the Galaxy J7 (2016). The Galaxy J7 Prime will also sport an 8-megapixel selfie camera, as opposed to the 5-megapixel selfie snapper on the existing Galaxy J7 models. Another improvement is likely to be a fingerprint scanner that is expected to be embedded into the home button up front.

Apart from these, the Galaxy J7 Prime won’t be a whole lot different to look at compared to the existing Galaxy J7 smartphones. The rest of the specifications expected on the upcoming smartphone include a 5.5-inch display, 1.6GHz Exynos 7870 octa-core processor, and a 3,300mAh battery.

Samsung’s Galaxy J7 Prime is expected to first make its debut in Vietnam, but at the time of filing the story there is no official launch date. With the Galaxy J7 and Galaxy J7 (2016) priced at Rs 14,999 and Rs 15,990 respectively, we can expect the Galaxy J7 Prime to be priced around the same range as well.

Besides the Galaxy J7 Prime, Samsung is also widely reported to be working on next-generation versions of the Galaxy Grand Prime, Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7 smartphones as well. All three smartphones have been spotted online multiple times giving us a fair idea on what to expect from them.

To put the Galaxy J7 Prime’s leaked specs and features into perspective, last year’s Galaxy J7 came with a Super AMOLED HD display, while the original Galaxy J7 came with a TFT display. The RAM too was increased from 1.5GB on the 2015 variant to 2GB on the 2016 variant.
