Upcoming Meizu M1E could let you control your car remotely; here’s what we know so far

The upcoming Meizu M1E smartphone could have an interesting feature that will let users control their car remotely. There is a catch however, read on to find out what it is.

Meizu is set to launch a new smartphone in China on August 10, called M1E aka Blue Charm E. The smartphone is expected to be priced between 1,500 Yuan and 1,700 Yuan (Rs 15,000-Rs 17,000 approximately). According to a leak, the talking point of this upcoming smartphone will be its ability to control a car remotely. Using the smartphone, one could unlock their car’s doors, control the air-conditioning and also heat their car seats.

While Meizu M1E’s car controlling feature sounds interesting, GSMArena says there is a catch. Dedicated to the company’s home country, this feature will only work with the Roewe RX5, a compact SUV launched last month by Alibaba and SAIC Motor. Touted as the world’s first smartcar, this SUV runs on Alibaba’s YunOS operating system. The SUV also allows owners to automatically pay for fuel, parking and tolls as well. It is not surprising to see Alibaba introducing exclusive features on a Meizu smartphone, as the e-commerce giant had acquired a stake in the company back in February, last year.

Meizu M1E specifications

Accumulating all rumors and leaks, the Meizu M1E will feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. Under its hood, will be a 1.8GHz MediaTek MT6755M Helio P10 SoC with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone is also expected to feature 32GB onboard storage, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and a 3,100mAh battery with fast charge support.

Meizu is hosting an event on August 10 in China, where it is expected to launch the M1E. But there is no word on its India launch as yet. A Meizu smartwatch is also expected to be launched in the event, but it is still not confirmed.
