Working Lightning EarPods for Apple iPhone 7 leaked in new video

Apple’s solution for not including a 3.5mm audio jack on the iPhone 7 could be EarPods with Lightning cable. A video allegedly shows these new EarPods in working condition.

It is widely expected that the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus won’t have a 3.5mm audio jack, and it remains to be seen what Apple has in store for audiophiles. Though we have already heard about EarPods with a Lightning connector, a video has surfaced online showing the headsets in a working condition. The video shared by accessories maker Mobile Fun not only show what the EarPods could look like, but also how they work.

It is too early to guess how Apple is planning to make up for not including a 3.5mm audio jack on the upcoming iPhones, but these leaked EarPods do look like the real deal. For one these are not just dummy units developed based on various rumors, but are actually seen working in the video. Secondly, the overall design and build is very Apple-like and consistent with what has leaked before.

If all the leaks are taken into consideration, Apple could have a few plans to make up for the absence of 3.5mm audio jack. Besides the Lightning EarPods, reports have talked about wireless headsets, and a video leaked recently also showed what looked like an adaptor with a 3.5mm audio jack at one end and a Lightning port at the other. Seems like the only thing to do now is to wait for Apple’s launch event in September, which would put all the rumors to rest.

While there’s been no official announcement yet, Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are expected to go up for preorders on September 9. This would mean, Apple could be scheduling its launch event on September 6.
